Example
This input:
Anna Lee
Ben Ortiz
Cara Singh
Anna Lee gives this output with the settings on this page:
Anna Lee, Ben Ortiz, Cara Singh, Anna Lee Copy a column from Sheets
Click the column letter to select the whole column, or drag over the cells you need, then press Ctrl+C (Cmd+C on a Mac). Paste into the left box. Empty cells are dropped, so a long column with gaps still gives a clean list.
Press Copy and paste the list into a cell, a document or a form field.
The formula way, and why people skip it
In Sheets, =TEXTJOIN(", ", TRUE, A2:A) joins a column with commas and spaces. It works, but the result sits in a cell that you must copy again. If the range grows, you must edit the formula, and it cannot add quotes around each value.
=ARRAYFORMULA(TEXTJOIN(", ", TRUE, UNIQUE(A2:A))) removes duplicates, but it is hard to remember. Here, you tick Remove duplicates.
Good uses
- Paste a list of emails into the To field of a mail tool.
- Fill a tag or keyword field that wants one line.
- Build a filter for a report that accepts a comma separated list of IDs.
