How to load 405 lb
A 405 lb barbell is four 45 lb plates on each side of a 45 lb bar. Lifters call it "four plates", and it is a famous milestone for the deadlift and the squat.
- Subtract the bar. 405 lb minus 45 lb is 360 lb.
- Divide by 2. Each side carries 180 lb.
- Load four 45 lb plates on each side. Put the heaviest plate against the shoulder of the bar.
- Add a collar to each sleeve and check that both sides look the same.
A 405 lb deadlift is a respected goal for many men, and a 405 lb squat marks a strong lifter. Few people bench this much.
