Rebar Weight Calculator gives the weight of reinforcing bar from the bar size, the length and the quantity. It is built for estimators, contractors and engineers who need a number fast, in pounds, kilograms or tons.

Where the numbers come from

The weights are the nominal values in ASTM A615 for US bar sizes #3 to #18 and in ASTM A615M for the metric sizes. Plain round diameters use the density of steel, 7,850 kg per cubic meter.

What it does

It handles a full list of bars, and you can copy or print the list.

How it works

The math runs in your browser. We do not ask you to create an account. Your lines are saved on your own device so you can come back to them.

Limits

The result is an estimate from nominal weights. Real bars vary, and laps, hooks and cut-offs change the order quantity. Check the final numbers against your drawings and your supplier before you order.
