Rolling Offset Calculator is a free tool for plumbers, pipefitters and electricians. You enter the rise and the roll. It gives you the true offset, the travel, the run and the cut length. In conduit mode it also gives the distance between bends and the shrink.

What it does

It shows the answers as you type and labels every number on a diagram.

How it works

The math is plain right-triangle geometry. The true offset is the diagonal of the rise and the roll. The travel is the true offset divided by the sine of the fitting angle. You can read the full steps in the article on the home page.

The tool runs in your browser. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not send your measurements anywhere.

Check your work

The take-off table on the home page lists values from a maker catalog or a standard, with the source named. Fittings differ by maker, so measure yours on jobs where an error costs money. This tool does not replace the code, the plans or your own judgment.
